Please do not spend any money with this organization. We do not need this negativity on our wonderful trails and public lands.

Now I am guessing these drivers are just motorcycle haters. I am pretty pissed off but don’t feel the need to be confrontation to other users that act like they own our public lands. I pull to a rented Jeep and mention my experience to the driver. This British driver says he had the same experience of Switzerland of America drivers not pulling over at all for him. Okay, they don’t just hate motorcycles, they are rude to other users.

Please do NOT patronize!

First and foremost, I love Ouray. We just spent 3 wonderful nights in Ouray and I did 2 motorcycle rides there. The people are super friendly, views and establishments are great-I go at least twice a year. I am an avid Colorado trail user, mountain biking, hiking and/or motorcycling 3-5 times per week. We love our trails and public lands, always trying to share/be respectful of other users. Each one of my experiences with this company has been very bad. They act as if, since they are a commercial entity, they are entitled to our public lands more than any other user. Any one of these experiences I could forgive but when put them together, this is unacceptable behavior:

Experience 1, Wednesday 9/6 coming down off Governor Basin road on an afternoon ride, I like to ride down with my engine off, makes the ride very close to mountain biking and you get to hear the outdoors. Going very slow as I come down to a switchback, I encounter one of their large, oversized vehicles. He is driving up. As with 99.5% of trail users, you try to pull over some to give the other user some room. This driver keeps going straight, right in the middle of the trail, not budging an inch to accommodate me. No worries, maybe he didn’t see me and since my motorcycle was off, couldn’t hear me. No wave (everyone waves?), just keeps going straight.

Experience 3, still coming down Imogene Pass. Come to another Switzerland of America driver. My motorcycle is off. As I am coming down to the large, oversized vehicle, a gorgeous Red Tailed Hawk dive bombs the customers in back of the vehicle right in front of me-so cool but unexpected. I say, “Wow, that was cool.” to the people in the back. Again, my engine is off and I have a full faced helmet on, enjoying the experience with the customers in the open truck. As I have to wait for a wide section of the trail, the driver never pulling the least bit over, yells out his window, “Quiet!” Are you kidding me?

We have the best adventures with this outfitter.

Very friendly Jeep rental / tour company. We rented the 4 door Rubicon and it was loaded with all the options, 2" lift, bigger tires, down hill assist (and trust me when you get on the trail the extra features matter) We had a great time on the Imogene Pass trail. Switzerland of America buys their Jeeps new every season so their vehicles are clean, dependable and in great condition. We will definitely rent from them again.

Annoying because they park their jeep as a meeting point right in front of the original, local family business that has been running tours for years. Shady business practice.

Experience 2, Thursday 9/7 morning coming down off Imogene Pass. Background, there are literally dozens of places to pull off road/trail to stop so others users can go around you. Again, engine is off. Riding behind another one of these large, oversized vehicles. We passed probably 40-50 vehicles that day, every other one of them would pull over some so you can go around them. This Switzerland of America driver stops in the middle of the road so there is maybe a foot and a half on ONE side to get around him-very rude. I proceed to use the foot and half when he almost opens his door into me. Freaks me out a little as it has quite the drop off. Maybe he didn’t see me, I know he can’t hear me because my engine is off. I give the driver the benefit of the doubt. When I stop below to wait for my friend, who’s motorcycle is running, I mention my experience. He tells me, he had to stop and ask the driver to close his door as he was standing there talking to his customers. He does not even close his door, simply pulls it close to him while still standing on the door sill. Okay, now the guy is a jerk. My buddy is new to motorcycling and this driver forces him into a very small space with a dangerous drop off.

Loved it, good food, great service & friendly atmosphere. Must try Shepard pie & the bread pudding!
