We saw ghost towns, big horn sheep, old mining structures and an endless supply of scenic vistas. It's the Jeep tour that started it all and it's easy to understand why. The whole family would highly recommend!
This is the place to book with. Don't be fooled by the imposter business who parks their jeep right in front of these guys and copies all of their techniques. Stick with the original business and drivers who know those mountains.
Had an awesome time on the tour today. We went over three mountain passes, and to the top of another mountain. Jim did a great job of explaining how mining worked in the area, as well as the geology..... If your squeamish about heights, an off-road tour in this area isn't for you, the roads are steep and narrow with a big drop off the side in some places.... I loved it. We actually hit some areas that required four wheel drive, not just a rough dirt road like the last off-road tour I took.
When 3 pickup trucks with people crates on the back say "Jeep Tours" & clearly aren't Jeeps, start being concerned. When those trucks drive in the middle of the fairly wide trail NOT letting others pass & deliberately cutting them off, stay being concerned. The absolute lack of trail etiquette on a fairly well traveled Colorado trail is not only inappropriate, it's dangerous. People are literally swaying around in a bolted down people crate in the bed of a pickup while the driver tries to swerve sideways to keep a faster vehicle from passing on the left side - hello, dangerous! Slower vehicles stay right, and when capable, pull over in the pull out areas to allow for passing. This isn't brand new information, especially in this area of the world. Endangering the people who paid for the tour and another driver is beyond inappropriate. Shame on you.
