Update: After reading through other reviews, I realized our situation wasn't unique. It seems the woman who sometimes claims to be the owner and sometimes the barmaid has a history of unhinged ravings including swearing at children, calling the police when she is unhappy, and throwing people out when they complain about the food. Perhaps she should consider a career change.

It was one of the most surreal moments of my life. They made us feel like criminals, and they embarrassed us terribly. We are all educated professionals who have never had a run-in with a restaurant, let alone the law.

Needless to say, if you happen to be near O'Brien's in Ouray, Colorado, run, don't walk, away as quickly as you can.

We decided to donate our food to the police department because we were far too upset to eat it. In the end, we paid more than $50 for two sandwiches, a bowl of soup and an iceberg lettuce salad (which we ate none of) and two flights of beer that we didn't order.

Of 2 chunks of corned beef. My husband ordered a burger and it was burned on the outside. We do not recommend this place.

It started when we didn't get the right drink order, and they refused to change it. While we were talking among ourselves at our table, the barmaid started screaming at us that we had to eat our lunch (sounds crazy, but it's true!) or she would call the police. At that point, we told her we would pay for the drinks (that we didn't order), but we would like to cancel our food. She told us we couldn't because it was ready--later we found out that was untrue.

My daughter and son-in-law don't live far from Ouray, and they wanted to show me some local sites on my visit from North Carolina. We had a wonderful day . . . except for . . . the lunch from hell.

Needless to say we were upset, and the entire situation was just insane. As we discussed privately what to do, an officer showed up at the bar. Yes, that's right. They called the police because we served the wrong order and asked for the correct order; although, we believe she actually told them that she was being robbed. We talked to him at length, calmly and quietly, while the barmaid and waitress were screaming. I'm pretty sure he got the picture. He recommended that we pay the bill in front of him and take a picture of it to avoid any fraudulent charges on my credit card. Later, I did realize that we had been overcharged, but I decided that it wasn't worth it to continue interacting with these unstable people.

We experienced poor service and below average food. At the waitresses recommendation, I ordered the cabbage and corner beef egg rolls. They were served on a plate swimming in grease. The egg rolls were cut in half and there were 4 pieces. One pice was completely empty. In the other 3 pieces, there was a total

My girlfriend and I ordered the classic burgers. The meat was the frozen preformed patty. Was very tough. Tea was gross. The fried pickles were good. Burgers were $12. I would advise go somewhere else.

On top of poor quality of food my menu was not clean it was sticky and falling apart around the edges and the oil and vinegar were sticky and not washed well as was the table. I just needed a suds washdown on all accessories and the table.

Not sure I will go back I was so disappointed to drop $40 on 2 salads and 2 iced teas. What a sad day.

This place was SOOO GOOD. Seriously, it hit the freaking spot. Irish egg rolls, Shepard pie, fish n chips, and to top it off their homemade Guinness chocolate chip cake was to die for. We devoured our food and enjoyed every bite. The waitress was a sweet heart. -From Texas

My salad lettuce was turning to slime and I could not eat at least a cup of it. The service was good but the food quality was unacceptable. It is a bummer I used to love this place and now it is not so hot. The hamburgers are just a prepressed patty. Not a good place to go for gluten or dairy free. Better options in town.
